Understanding your Privacy Rights
At Seas the Day Counseling, your privacy and confidentiality are always my top priority. I understand that seeking therapy is a deeply personal decision, and I am committed to creating a space where you feel safe, respected, and protected.
All information shared in counseling sessions is confidential and protected by federal and state laws, as well as professional ethical standards. This means that what you share in session stays between us, with a few legal exceptions as required by law. These include:
- If there is a reason to believe you intend to harm yourself or someone else
- If there is suspicion of abuse or neglect involving a child, elder, or vulnerable adult.
- If records are subpoenaed by court order.
Outside of these exceptions, no information will be shared without your written consent.
For telehealth sessions, I use a secure, HIPAA compliant platform to ensure your information and communication remains protected. Any electronic communication, such as email or messaging, is handled with care to maintain your privacy.
If you have questions or concerns about confidentiality, privacy practices, or your records, please do not hesitate to reach out and ask. I am happy to discuss how your information is safeguarded and what steps I take to keep your trust and safety at the center of our work.
